Title: Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Unit/Department: Athletics

FTE: Full-Time

Salary: $54,000 to $90,000/yr

Job Summary:

Drake University is seeking multiple Assistant Women’s Basketball Coaches applicants. The successful candidates will assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans and provide feedback and demonstrations to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development. In addition, they will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. Prior college coaching experience required.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, Psychology, or related field

· 6 months experience with the following:

o assisting with coaching student-athletes during basketball practices, workouts, skill development sessions, and intercollegiate competitions, including post player development;

o scouting and identifying prospective basketball student-athletes at the collegiate level;

o reviewing, editing, uploading, and exchanging practice and game film, using Synergy Sports, FastDraw, Hudl or equivalent software in accordance with conference video exchange requirements;

o rostered as student-athlete for a basketball program at the collegiate level.

· Willingness to travel up to 35% for games and regional and national recruiting events.

Job Duties:

· 30% - Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre-and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes about athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency.

· 30% - Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes who represent the Drake prototype in communication with the Head Coach.

· 10% - Provide leadership for a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes and contribute to a culture of excellence and ethics.

· 10% - Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to: NCAA and Drake University compliance processes, competition scheduling, business and finance paperwork, facilities reservations, community service functions, event planning, and fundraising, etc.

· 10% - Assist with scouting and game preparation, including video and statistical reviews.

· 5% - Demonstrate appropriate communication related to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.).

· 5% - Contribute to a positive working environment within the Department and University.
