Department Summary:

Drake University is excited to launch its first Women’s Flag Football Club Program as a Premier Sport Club team.

Job Summary:

The Head Coach will provide leadership in launching this program, develop the playing ability of our players, and oversee the day-to-day management of the team. This is a part-time, stipend position that will report directly to the Associate Director of Recreational Service & Sport Club Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate level.

· Bachelor's degree required.

· Must be willing to work nights and weekends as most games will occur over the weekend.

· Possess experience working with diverse staff, including college-age students.

· Must maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification, if necessary, based on league compliance.

· Provide guidance and support to athletes on and off the field, fostering a positive and motivating environment.

· Must have and maintain and current CPR certification

· Represent the team in community events, fostering good public relations and building support for the program.

Job Duties:

  • 25% - Provide day-to-day leadership in launching the Women’s Flag Football Club Program. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Aid in identifying and recruiting talented players, attending games, and evaluating potential recruits in coordination with the Sport Club Director and Drake Admissions. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Develop and execute practice plans, game strategies, and overall team management. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Focus on the skill development of athletes, offering individual and group instruction tailored to improve performance. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Manage the team during games, make strategic decisions, and ensure effective communication among players. Ensure adherence to safety protocols, support injury prevention and management efforts, and promote overall athlete well-being. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Oversee logistical aspects such as scheduling, travel arrangements, equipment management, budgeting, and compliance with league and school regulations in partnership with student leadership and Sport Club Director. - (Essential)

For faculty positions, selection will depend on the receipt of recommendation confirming the candidate's scholarly achievements and teaching abilities and/or on the candidate's satisfactory passing of a teaching demonstration if selected for an on-campus interview. For staff positions, selection will depend upon careful review of each applicant’s references, education, and, if applicable, experience.
