Department Summary:
Drake University's Athletics Department competes in the Missouri Valley Conference at the NCAA Division I level. Bulldog student-athletes thrive in the classroom and their respective field of play. Drake Athletics sport programs are considered Des Moines’ Hometown Team.

Job Summary:
The Women’s Basketball Graduate Assistant will assist staff with practice and competition operations, team travel plans, and on campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes. The Graduate Assistant will also be responsible for assisting with administrative duties and Student-Athlete wellness.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution
• Enrollment or acceptance in a Drake University graduate program
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Skills Needed:
• Excellent communication and computer (Microsoft Office) skills
• Photoshop proficiency not required but desirable
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet established work deadline
• Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching.
• Ability to develop and sustain relationships with current student athletes, prospective student athletes, parents, fans and coaches.
• Endless energy and enthusiasm.
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate basketball experience as a Student-Athlete or coach
Job Duties:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the head coach and assistant coaches in setting up the facility for practices, games and opponent practices.
- Oversee the organization and supervision of student managers and practice players. Meet with them to ensure the support of the program and monitor attendance to daily practice sessions.
- Update and distribute practice plans for staff, coaches, visitors, fans, etc.
- Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to: facilities reservations, community service functions, event planning, and donation requests, etc.
- Demonstrate appropriate communication related to internal (student athletes, strength and conditioning staff, athletic training staff, coaching staff, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.)
- Contribute to a positive and energetic working environment within the Drake Athletics Department and University.
- Other duties as assigned.
