Job Summary:

The Drake University Leadership & Counseling Department invites applications for an adjunct instructor position. This position will be responsible for teaching a three-credit graduate section of COUN 243: Comprehensive School Counseling Programming. This is School Counseling specific course where students learn ASCA School Counseling Model as well as Iowa Framework. The successful candidate will teach one independent study during the spring 2026 term and will teach a full section during the fall 2026 term. The instructor is responsible for developing the course content and teaching the independent study in online or hybrid format and the regular course in the Fall as an in-person course. The instructor is responsible for delivering course content, facilitating activities, and grading assignments. This course is required of all students specializing in School Counseling.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Master’s degree in school counseling

*School counseling experience

Preferred Qualifications:

*Five or more years' experience as a school counselor

*Experience in designing and evaluating ASCA school counseling program

Job Duties:

  • 60% - Deliver content related to School Counseling Programming - (Essential)
  • 15% - Monitor and document individual student progress - (Essential)
  • 10% - Facilitate discussion of relevant issues - (Essential)
  • 5% - Adjust the pre-developed curriculum and textbook / article choices as needed - (Essential)
  • 5% - Create new course content and readings as needed - (Essential)
  • 5% - Provide final grades for students according to the university calendar - (Essential)
