Job Summary:
The Drake University Teaching and Learning Department invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for teaching one of one sections of a one-credit undergraduate/graduate course titled EDUC 112/212: Challenging Young Gifted Children (the sections of these courses are cross-listed for both undergraduate and graduate students).
The asynchronous, online course is designed to help students understand the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of gifted youth in prekindergarten through second grade (ages 3-8). The instructor will be responsible for the facilitation and assessment of all related course work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
• Master’s degree or higher in Education
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred
• At least 3 years of PK-12 teaching experience in gifted education.
• Experience in teaching adult learners in a virtual/online format.
Job Duties:
- 65% - Serve as instructor of record for the course, using an existing course syllabus as the foundation for instruction - (Essential)
- 20% - Use the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System to facilitate student learning experiences - (Essential)
- 10% - Document individual student achievement of course goals/objectives - (Essential)
- 5% - Maintain timely communication with students, with Drake Teaching and Learning faculty and/or the Talented and Gifted endorsement program lead - (Essential)
