Job Summary:

The Drake University School of Education – Department of Leadership and Counseling invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor. This position will be responsible for teaching the Course: LEAD 199: Mindfulness & Leadership: Cultivating Awareness in Practice.

The successful candidate will teach one section in the fall of 2026 to undergraduate students. This course explores how mindfulness practices can enhance leadership effectiveness, self-awareness, and resilience. Students will examine contemporary leadership theories through a mindfulness lens, experiment with practical techniques, and reflect on their impact on personal leadership style. The instructor is responsible for facilitating course activities and projects designed to meet the course objectives as well as grading all related coursework.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree and experience in developing and teaching coursework like this one

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with the LEAD program at Drake and experience with the course topic

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the course, online and independent student activities
  • 20% - Maintain timely communication with students to assist them in achieving course objectives 
  • 10% - Monitor and document individual student progress
  • 10% - Establish a consistent method of assessing students around the course objectives 
  • 10% - Develop a syllabus and readings with guidance of LEAD Director 
  • 10% - Communicate questions and concerns with collaborating faculty
