Job Summary:

The Drake University School of Education – Department of Teaching and Learning invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor. This position will be responsible for teaching classes related to learning disabilities, differentiated instruction, writing and monitoring academic-based IEP goals. Candidates must have a successful track record in research-based instructional strategies. Experience as a District/AEA Instructional Coach and experiences/licensure in multiple states (non-just Iowa) is an additional advantage. The successful candidate will teach one section in the Fall of 2025 to group of undergraduate and graduate students seeking Special Education Certification. The course objectives have already been established. The instructor is responsible for facilitating course activities and projects designed to meet the course objectives as well as grading all related coursework.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. and university teaching experience are preferred

Job Duties:

  • 65% - Teach using the pre-developed syllabus and readings - (Essential)
  • 5% - Establish a consistent method of assessing students around the course objectives - (Essential)
  • 10% - Maintain timely communication with students to assist them in achieving course objectives - (Essential)
  • 10% - Monitor and document individual student progress, including practicums - (Essential)
  • 5% - Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the course - (Essential)
  • 5% - Communicate questions and concerns with collaborating special education faculty - (Essential)
