Department Summary:
Drake University's Athletics Department competes in the Missouri Valley Conference at the NCAA Division I level. Bulldog student-athletes thrive in the classroom and their respective field of play. Job Summary:
The athletics department at Drake University is currently seeking applicants for an Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Development to provide support for the academic and personal development of all student-athletes. This position will report directly to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in the field; OR any equivalent combination of education and experiences where comparable skills have been acquired
• The ability to work nights, weekends and travel periodically
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in guiding student-athletes in their academic pursuits, monitoring progress towards degree and continuing eligibility, and program coordination
Job Duties:
- 45% - Manage academic support and continuing eligibility of student-athletes on designated teams in consultation with the Senior Associate Athletics Director.
- 25% - Design and implement Bulldog Way Life Skills programming
- 10% - Co-advise the Student-Athlete Advisory Council
- 10% - Prepare and distribute communications to athletics staff and other partners as assigned
- 5% - Support study hall program
- 5% - Refer student-athletes to campus resources and complete other duties as assigned
