Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Recreational Services – Wellness position is responsible for a comprehensive student wellness program. The program includes managing the group exercise and personal training program as well as wellness services. This position will also supervise and train group exercise instructors, personal trainers, wellness assistants and practicum students. In addition to the wellness program, this position coordinates all Recreational Services marketing.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Manage group exercise program

• Hire, train, evaluate, supervise and complete payroll for wellness staff

• Teach group exercise classes

• Manage operating budget for wellness program

• Manage student wellness program

• Manage student wellness services

• Purchase, maintenance and replacement of fitness equipment

• Coordinate all Recreational Services marketing

• Supervise Recreational Services Marketing student

• Oversee the Recreation Facility Coordinator as the liaison with American Red Cross

• Practicum preceptor for health sciences

• Utilize Fusion software to manage access, appointments, and sales

• Teach CPR and First Aid

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree

- 1-3 years collegiate experience

- Demonstrate basic experience coordinating fitness and/or wellness programs

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree

- Current nationally accredited certification in Personal Training, Group Fitness, Wellness or willingness to attain upon hire

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Manage group exercise program including hiring, training, evaluating and supervising group exercise instructors. Publicize and facilitate program.
  • 25% - Plan, coordinate, implement, facilitate and evaluate student wellness program.
  • 10% - Coordinate all department marketing including website, social media, brochures, presentations, tabling and supervising marketing student employees.
  • 10% - Supervise wellness student assistants and practicum students.
  • 10% - Manage personal training program and supervise personal trainers.
  • 5% - Conduct individual fitness testing and evaluation for students. Prescribe and monitor individual wellness programs for students.
  • 5% - Teach group exercise classes.
