Department Summary:

Job Summary:

Drake Athletics is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the opening of Assistant Director of Facilities, Events and Operations. Reporting to Director of Facilities and Events, the Assistant Director will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of the Drake University athletics facilities for athletics team practices, student groups, and other special events. The Assistant Director will oversee the management of events which includes coordinating, training, and supervising Event Staff for the Drake-hosted events. Assistant Director of Facilities and Events plays a key role in the facility maintenance and management of Intercollegiate Athletics facilities with an emphasis on safety, functionality, and presentation. Responsible for ensuring facilities are at or above Division I expectations. This position will work nights, weekends, and possibly holidays. Other duties as assigned.

All of the essential job duties described below require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, and Drake University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree – knowledge of specialized principles or techniques normally obtained through a four-year college/university academic program or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed

1-3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

• Ability to work nights and weekends.

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Coordinate day-to-day aspects of operation and maintenance for assigned athletics facilities. 
  • 30% - Administer Drake Athletics, campus, and external events as assigned.
  • 10% - Maintain inventory and functionality of all athletics facility equipment.
  • 10% - Liaison with Facility Services and coordinate facility work orders.
  • 5% - Assist in the execution of NCAA Championships, Conference Championships, Drake Sports Camps, and external events.
  • 5% - Provides other duties as assigned.
