Job Summary:

The Coordinator, Leadership Programs serves as a part-time professional staff member supporting the day-to-day operations, event management, and program delivery of the Adams Leadership Institute (ALI). This position provides primary coordination for the annual Sussman Leadership Conference, while also supporting additional leadership initiatives, workshops, and student development programs within the Institute.

Reporting to the Senior Director of the Adams Leadership Institute, this role focuses on operational execution, administrative coordination, and instructional support to ensure the successful implementation of co-curricular leadership experiences for Drake students. The position collaborates closely with campus partners, student staff, and program stakeholders to maintain high-quality student engagement and event experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Leadership Studies, or related field preferred).
• Experience coordinating programs, events, or student-facing initiatives in higher education or related environments.
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience facilitating student leadership programs or workshops.
• Experience with event management and logistics coordination.
• Familiarity with student development theory and co-curricular leadership education.

Job Duties:

  • 50% - Event Management & Program Coordination • Serve as primary logistical coordinator for the annual Sussman Leadership Conference, including planning timelines, vendor coordination, event registration, communication management, and on-site execution. • Coordinate logistical and operational details for additional Adams Leadership Institute events, workshops, and leadership programs throughout the year (e.g., Adams training series, leadership events, and signature programs). • Manage event planning systems including scheduling, space reservations, materials preparation, catering coordination, and participant communication. • Collaborate with campus partners and vendors to ensure successful event delivery aligned with university policies and standards. • Support post-event evaluation, data collection, and reporting processes to inform continuous program improvement. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Administrative Operations & Student Support • Provide day-to-day administrative coordination for Adams Leadership Institute programs, including tracking participation, maintaining records, supporting communications, and preparing program materials. • Assist with student communication and engagement processes related to Institute activities, scholarship communications, and leadership programming. • Support the supervision and coordination of student staff by assisting with training, scheduling, and workflow management. • Assist with budget-related administrative tasks, purchasing requests, and reconciliation processes in collaboration with the Senior Director and University Accounting procedures. • Maintain organized systems and documentation supporting program continuity and operational efficiency. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Instructional Support & Facilitation • Assist with facilitation and instruction within Adams Leadership Institute co-curricular workshops and leadership development sessions (Adams 1, Adams 2, and Adams 3). • Lead select small-group activities, reflection exercises, or workshop sessions aligned with program curriculum. • Provide coaching and guidance to students as appropriate within Institute programming. • Collaborate with the Senior Director to support curriculum implementation and participant engagement. - (Essential)
