Our team focuses on the University’s key priorities, developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies with a digital-first approach that achieves measurable outcomes.
Broadly speaking, we concentrate on three areas: Marketing, Communications, Web and Creative Services.

Job Summary:
Drake University’s Office of Communications and Marketing is excited to invite applications for a Digital Content Strategist. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining digital health across various digital platforms, ensuring attention to accessibility, user experience, SEO, brand guidelines, and proper use of institutional assets.
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and organizational skills, a working understanding of HTML and CSS, and confidently be able to switch between various digital platforms on a regular basis.
A strong customer-centric approach to work is also required. This individual is responsible for working across multiple campus partners to help support their website needs. While campus partners can publish a certain level of content, to maintain digital health, the vast majority of content is vetted through this office. For this reason, this individual needs to be able to empower content editors to a degree that helps them operate efficiently while prioritizing support requests that need implemented through the office. The right candidate will show a balance of customer service and an ability to communicate a recommendation that best meets the challenge or objective at hand.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Applicants must be proficient in SEO, HTML, CSS, and relevant design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with JavaScript and jQuery.
• Experience with project management.
Job Duties:
- 20% - Responsible for ongoing maintenance and optimization of University digital sites including Drake.edu, the campus map, campus calendar, newsroom, and the University email marketing system. This individual is responsible for overseeing the CMS training program and supporting campus partners who have website support needs.
- 20% - Serve as project lead for web and digital content projects ensuring projects are completed on time and to high standards of quality. This will include building and designing webpages, building and implementing content tools, training guides, wireframes, site maps, and other visualization tools, and when needed, writing content for web or other digital platforms.
- 20% - Provide oversight and guidance to website and digital content editors across campus, including management of University Communications & Marketing policies related to web content and design.
- 20% - Manage digital quality assurance initiatives including search engine optimization, search engine marketing, web accessibility requirements, content management system, and digital analytics reports.
- 10% - Supervise student interns, consultants, subcontractors and other part-time, short-term staff, as necessary.
- 5% - Evaluate, assess, and advise on the strategic value of emerging digital tools, particularly for helping drive student recruitment and retention.
- 5% - Other opportunities and duties as assigned.
