Department Summary:
We are in search of a capable and service minded individual to assist leading a team of amazing custodians (Facility Maintainers). Job Summary:
Under direct or indirect supervision of a department supervisor or Facility Maintainer I, performs a variety of cleaning activities designed to maintain the University in an orderly, sanitary, safe and attractive condition. May be assigned responsibility for a major building, or specified areas of several buildings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read and communicate in writing using the English language.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to train new employees.
- Valid Iowa Driver's License, good driving record and insurable by Drake University.
Job Duties:
- 40% - Perform cleaning activities including vacuuming, dust mopping, and mopping offices, classrooms, stairwells, student rooms, restrooms, and hallways.
- 20% - Clean and disinfect areas using germicidal cleaning solutions, including washing furnishings, tile, fixtures, and equipment.
- 10% - Polish sinks, tubs, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors, and similar apparatus.
- 10% - Spot wash walls, light switches, and telephones; wash or clean windows and door glass.
- 5% - Maintain cleanliness by keeping all debris in the area picked up.
- 5% - Recognize and report problems to Facility Maintainer I or Custodial Supervisor.
- 5% - Maintain supply inventory for designated areas and prepare supply requests and usage reports.
- 5% - Other duties as assigned.
