Department Summary:
Drake University's Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) department is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the university's physical environment. The team comprises professionals specializing in custodial services, utility management, groundskeeping, and building maintenance.
Job Summary:
This position is open to Internal Candidates Only. Under direct or indirect supervision of a department supervisor or Facility Maintainer I, performs a variety of cleaning activities designed to maintain the University in an orderly, sanitary, safe and attractive condition. May be assigned responsibility for a major building, or specified areas of several buildings. Work activities are scheduled and unscheduled in nature and are subject to frequent interruptions. Position requires a minimum of 1 year experience as a Facility Maintainer III and a past record of acceptable attendance and dependability. A valid Iowa Driver's License, good driving record and insurability by Drake University is required
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Work experience in a group of buildings or a vast complex.
-Past record of acceptable attendance and dependability.
-Ability to read and communicate in writing using the English language.
-Ability to follow instructions.
-Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated.
-Capable of self-initiation of required duties of a general or specific nature.
-Ability to evaluate project needs independently to include routine daily schedules.
-Ability to train new employees.
-Valid Iowa Driver's License, good driving record and insurable by Drake University.
Job Duties:
- 100% - Vacuums, dust mops, damp and wet mop offices, classrooms, stairwells, student rooms, restrooms and hallways. Cleans and disinfects area by washing furnishings, tile, fixtures and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions, polish sinks, tubs, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors and similar apparatus; spot wash walls, light switches and telephones; wash or clean windows and door glass, keeps all debris in area picked up. Recognize if problems are observed and report to FM I or Custodial Supervisor. Maintains supply inventory for designated areas, prepares supply requests and consumption or usage reports as directed. - (Essential)
