Department Summary:

We are in search of a capable and service-minded individuals to join our existing team of amazing custodians (called Facility Maintainers at Drake). Job Summary:
Facility Maintainers perform a variety of custodial tasks and activities designed to maintain the campus in an orderly, sanitary, safe, and attractive condition. Facility Maintainers work under general supervision and are also trusted to complete both self-directed activities and team projects. The work schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 4:30 am - 1:00pm and Saturday and Sunday, from 5:00am – 1:30pm, with Monday and Tuesday off.
Position requires a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the insurability requirements to drive on behalf of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read and communicate in writing using the English language.
- Housekeeping experience preferred.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete department training program.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated.
- Ability to work with chemical fluids used for cleaning, waxing and/or disinfecting.
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to wear a backpack vacuum.
- Valid Iowa Driver's License, good driving record and insurable by Drake University.
Job Duties:
- 20% - Vacuum, dust mop, damp and wet mop stairwells; clean restroom, hallways, classrooms, and offices. - (Essential)
- 20% - Clean and disinfect areas by washing with germicidal cleaning solutions, polish sinks, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors and similar apparatus; spot wash walls, light switches and telephones; wash or clean windows and door glass; keep all debris in area picked up. - (Essential)
- 20% - Utilize chemical supplies and equipment to complete tasks, including exercising judgment to choose appropriate chemical and equipment for each task. - (Essential)
- 20% - Collect and remove trash and recycle waste inside and outside of University Buildings. - (Essential)
- 20% - Perform other similar duties, as assigned - (Essential)
Salary & Benefits:
The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt position.
