Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Access Services Manager, the Part-Time Access Services Associate is responsible for supervising student employees, providing excellent service to library patrons, and performing routine Access Services and circulation duties. This position will provide general reference help, Chat coverage, and will act as backup for ILL, Reserves, and material processing. Weekend and evening hours are required.
This is a 10-month, part-time position, not eligible for benefits. The regular schedule for this position is Fridays from 2:00–7:15 p.m., Saturdays from 10:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m., and Sundays from 10:45 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (approximately 20 hours per week). Hours may fluctuate during academic breaks and J-Term based on library hours and staffing needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in customer service or libraries.
Ability to perform basic functions on computers including troubleshooting basic issues and providing technical assistance.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Strong communication and collaborative skills.
Job Duties:
- 75% - Supervise library student employees and ensure the library is adequately staffed. Assist with student training and scheduling. Coordinate and supervise student activities and duties. Enforce library security and safety policies. Carry out and assist with opening and closing procedures. Act as the supervisor onsite during assigned weekend and evening hours. Act as backup for processing time cards for student employees. - (Essential)
- 20% - Perform circulation and Access Services duties as necessary, which includes ILL, Chat, Reserves and material processing. Monitor and facilitate circulation duties and workflows. Maintain a regular schedule staffing the information desk. Assist library patrons with holds, computers, copiers/printers, using the catalog and general reference. Investigate and respond to patron issues in a timely and professional manner. - (Essential)
