Department Summary:

Drake University's Office of Registrar is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all student records. The Office carries a list of responsibilities, including maintaining student records, producing student transcripts, evaluating transfer credits, providing degree and enrollment verifications, to name a few.

The Office serves both current, future, and former Drake students and partners with offices across the institution. We are a highly collaborative team focused on Drake's mission.

Job Summary:

Drake University’s Office of the Registrar is seeking a Student Records Specialist who will report to the Assistant Registrar and provide support for transfer credit evaluations, international credentials, veteran educational benefits, and office operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate Degree
• Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively and build partnerships with faculty, staff, and students
• A high level of integrity and ability to exercise independent judgement and demonstrate personal initiative
• Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail
• Customer service oriented
• Strong technical and computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with transfer credit evaluations or international credential evaluations
• Experience with veteran education benefits or veterans’ affairs
• Experience with admissions, advising, and/or customer service
• Experience working at a college or university
• Evidence of solution-oriented, creative, and innovative thinking to resolve complex issues and enhance business processes

Core Job Duties:

Transfer Credit Evaluation & Management (30%): Assists the Assistant Registrar with initiatives and processes related to transfer credit evaluation and transfer credit policies. Completes timely unofficial and official evaluations of transfer credit. Maintains online transfer credit articulation tool and Banner tables. - (Essential)

Veterans Education Benefits Management (30%): Assists the Assistant Registrar with the certification and data management for Veterans Education Benefits. Responsibilities include for interpreting and explaining VA educational benefits regulations, guidelines, and requirements to students and prospective students, monitoring student records for potential changes to certifications, and tracking of money received. Attends VA-related conferences, meetings, workshops, and webinars as appropriate. - (Essential)

Global Academic Partnership Support (20%): Researches foreign educational institutions and authenticates foreign documents for the purpose of transfer credit eligibility. Coordinates the development of an international credit equivalency database for use in admission decisions, student advising, and study abroad advising. Support data entry and management for global partnership programs. - (Essential)

Administrative Responsibilities (15%): Provides general student record management support (e.g., registration, change of record, transfer credits). Serves as a back-up to the Student Services and Operations Specialist, assists with front desk office coverage, collaborates with the Assistant Registrar to determine projects and enhancements and policy recommendations for area of responsibility. Serves on committees and task forces as appropriate. - (Essential)

Salary & Benefits

We anticipate the starting salary to be in the range of $38,000-$40,000. However, the final offered salary will be dependent upon the qualifications and experiences of the selected candidate.
