Department Summary:

Job Summary:

Under direct or indirect supervision of the Grounds Manager, perform assigned duties and follow applicable policies and safety procedures. This position performs a variety of activities in regards to hauling or transport of items for the campus and event set-ups as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Must be able to initiate and maintain good customer and co-worker relationships in a team environment.

• Ability to navigate and use FPM work order system

• Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated

• Capable of self-initiation of required duties of general specific nature

• Ability to perform basic record keeping and keep neat written accurate documents on certain materials

• Ability to work with limited supervision

• Experience in operating of front loaders and forklifts

• High School graduate or equivalent

• Valid Iowa CDL driver’s license, good driving record and insurable by Drake University

• Experience in inventory, scheduling and delivery

• Ability in lifting 25-50 pounds frequently and or lifting 51 to 100 pounds with assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Operator Experience - mowers, tractors, UTVs, boom lifts, etc

- Computer skills with work order software

- Basic Carpentry skills for furniture assembly and disassembly

Job Duties:

  • 20% - Move furniture, equipment and other articles from building to building on campus or to other facilities off campus. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Deliver furniture and equipment to specific areas and arrange items in an orderly fashion. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Inventory and maintain university storage facilities. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist cleaning and organization of Pole Barn and Warehouse areas. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Maintain equipment, vehicle, tools, storage and work area in a clean, orderly and usable state at all times. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Schedule and prioritize hauling work orders that come to Facility Services. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Responsible for back-up garbage/recycle truck duties when primary is on leave or as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assist in reviewing work methods for purpose of improving efficiency of operation and services. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assist other Facility Services personnel when call upon to perform variety of duties, including snow and ice removal services - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assist Grounds Staff in mowing, trimming, and other landscape duties including event set-ups. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned - (Essential)
